Edward Brennan

Edward Thomas Brennan, Sr. - SAVANNAH - Edward Thomas Brennan, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at home on Friday August 14, 2015. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Waters Brennan and their two children, Allison Brennan Yeoman and Edward T. Brennan, Jr., their spouses Jack Yeoman and Jamee Brennan, grandchildren Patrick Yeoman, Claire Marcus, Virginia Yeoman, Alexandra Brennan, Owen Brennan, Elizabeth Brennan and great granddaughter Eva Brennan Marcus. Ed was a native Savannahian and graduate of Benedictine Military School, Georgetown University and University of Virginia School of Law. He practiced law in Savannah until retirement from Brennan Harris & Rominger. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy following WWII, and soon after married Patricia Waters of Savannah. Ed is a former member of the State Legislature; former Chatham County Attorney; past Director of The Chamber of Commerce; past president of The Little Theatre; Maritime Law Association member and an American delegate to Comite' Maritime International, Montreal 1981 and Lisbon 1985; member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, and a founder and first Chairman of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Ed was past president of The Hibernian Society of Savannah (1995-1996) and its popular Poet Laureate. He attended The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and Sacred Heart Church. He loved the ocean having spent his summers on Tybee Island as a child. Ed adored his wife Pat, and cherished his family, colleagues and friends, and he will be missed by all. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery followed by a reception at the Brennan family home, 214 East Taylor St. Remembrances may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1707 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31401 or The Humane Society for Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
