James Webb Obituary

James Terrell Webb - SPRINGFIELD - James Terrell Webb was born July 11, 1930 and passed away June 29, 2014 at the age of 83, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Terrell was a graduate of Effingham Academy in Springfield, and a Honor graduate of University of Georgia Pharmacy School in 1951. He owned and operated Webb Rexall Drugs in Springfield and was the original Pharmacist at Effingham Hospital when founded. He served in the U.S. Army in post-war Germany (Korean Conflict). He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield where he was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, served in Lay Leadership positions, and was past President of Sunday School Association of Effingham County. He was a true servant of the Lord, kind and generous to all. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was former Mayor of Springfield, GA, former Georgia State Representative , and former Chairman of First District Republican Party. He was the recipient of Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Treutlen Award, co-founder of Effingham Academy in the 60's, and the radio station in Springfield. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Springfield Lions Club. He was a Director at C & S Bank, Nations Bank, and Citizens Bank of Effingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boma and W. R. (Rabun) Webb; and brother, Dr. Ray D. Webb. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lonadine Morgan Webb; children, Debbie (Barry) Neidlinger and Dennis (Morgan) Webb; grandchildren, Leah W. (Eric) Perkins, Glenn (Stacy) Weston, Lindsay Webb, Nicholas Webb, Abby (Adam) Newland, Quinton Nease, Jamie N. (Randall) Tucker; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Charlie) Sloan; sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Webb; brother-in-law, Frederick (Shirley) Weitman; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Springfield followed by a celebration of Terrell's life at 3 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Springfield in memory of J. Terrell Webb, 1435 Hwy. 119 N., Springfield, GA 31329. Thomas C.
