John Joseph Miller, 100, of Richmond, went to his heavenly home on July 18, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Blondine Miller; son, John R. Miller; father, John Miller; mother, Gertrude Miller; sisters ,Margaret M. Gatsch (Peggy) , Elizabeth Laser; and brother, Joseph Miller. He is survived by his son, Joseph E. Miller (Kathy) and daughter, Paulette M. Abernathy (Wayne); three grandchildren, Matthew Miller (Kelly), Jennifer Eisinger (Justin), Jason Kirby (Shelbi); three great-grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Kinsley Miller, and Kayden Kirby. Also surviving are nephews, John Gatsch (Neal), Joe Gatsch (Elizabeth); Nieces, Kathleen Vaughan (John), Eileen Voss (Carl), Peggy Ann Gatsch and Marianne Gatsch. John served his country in World War II, when he also met the love of his life, Blondine Miller. They married and started a 72-year-life together beginning in Savannah, Ga., ending in Richmond, Va. They raised three children together. John was a devoted provider for his family and not afraid of hard work. His children enjoyed a family vacation every summer without fail. In 1974 he accepted a promotion with Union Camp Corporation which relocated him and the family to Virginia. He retired after 41 years of service. Never one to sit around, he took a part-time job with Farm Fresh Supermarkets and worked until he was 92-years-old. He had a lifelong passion for baseball and was an avid Braves fan for many years. With his relocation to Virginia he adopted a love for the Washington Nationals, his children called him a traitor as he raised them to be lifelong Braves fans. Accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, John is now in his loving embrace. Rest in peace, Daddy, your family will miss you. One day we will all be united in our heavenly home. There will be a memorial service on Monday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Bonaventure Funeral Home, 2520 Bonaventure Rd., Savannah, Ga
