Leonard Monroe Boyles, 92, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his residence.
The Effingham County native was a member of Guyton Christian Church and an Elder Emeritus. He retired from CSX railroad after over 40 years of service.
He served on the 1st Guyton Volunteer Fire Department, was a former Chief, and a member of the Civil Defense. He celebrated his 75th Wedding Anniversary on December 5, 2020 the day before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Monroe and Bessie Arnsdorff Boyles; his sister, Marjorie Boyles; and his brother, Herbert Boyles.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Lawson Boyles; daughter, Linda McDaniel (Ronnie); son, Lynn Boyles (Mickey); grandchildren, Ron McDaniel (Amy), Kelly Strickland (Ryan), Jason Boyles (Mandy), and Jeffrey Boyles; great-grandchildren, Kendra McDaniel, Morgan McDaniel (Logan), Bryson McDaniel, Samuel, Simon, Silas, Abigail, and Abraham Monroe Strickland, Reagan Boyles and Lawson Boyles, Gracelynn Boyles and Graham Boyles; a special nephew, Lonnie Burnette; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Guyton Christian Church.
Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Springfield.
