Margaret Ann Lambert Powers - SAVANNAH - Margaret Ann Lambert Powers of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 19, 2011, surrounded by her devoted children. Born on December 23, 1922, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Lambert. She was educated in the East London schools and was a graduate of Becontree Upper Girls School. She was a book keeper and served her country during World War II as a member of the British Women's Land Army. She was recently honored by the British Prime Minister for her service during this time. Margaret met her husband Thomas E. Powers, Jr., in London in 1943. They married and returned to his home in the United States where they resided in various locations during the course of their marriage and Thomas' service in the United States Air Force. They made their last move to their permanent home in Savannah in 1963. "Meem" was the quintessential mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. To the Entire Powers Family,
What great memories we have had together! It seems like yesterday that we lived 2 doors down from each other and our wonderful Mayfair family. Mrs Powers was such a wonderful and loving person! I can still hear her sweet voice! Always looking out for us and keeping us out of trouble or at least trying too. May your sweet memories help you find peace at this time. God has taken her home! She and mom will continue to look over us and keep us in line. God be with each of you!
Love and prayers,
Laura Roush Garner and the entire Roush Family

Mrs Powers was such a dear friend to my Mom. I have so many memories of going to lunch with both of them. My fondest memories are of taking these 2 English ladies to the Daughters of Ireland breakfast on St Patrick's Day morning. Thank you Mrs Powers and may you rest in peace.

I can't recall how many times I jumped that fence growing up as a child in Mayfair - antagonizing Pat and Margaret or playing sports with Jay and Tom in our backyards. But, I will always remember your mother as a very gentle and gracious lady. My sincere sympathy to all members of the Powers' family. May God comfort you during this time of loss.

Aunt Marge was my Godmother and had nine children. My mom said if anything happened to her Aunt Marge was prepared to take on another child. She had a big heart full of love. May she be reunited in heaven with Uncle Thomas.

Mrs. Marge was so kind and sweet. Loved her English accent and smile. May she be at peace in heaven.

IMAGINE leaving all your family & friends and traveling thousands of miles to a new country where you know no one except the man you have just married! My Aunt Marge did just that. Her spirit has always reminded me of our Irish GGrandmothers who did the same. Lots of courage and conviction to leave everything you know and love and embark on a new life far, far away. She MUST have loved that "Tommy Boy" an awful lot! My prayers go out for her and all of her family. Your Cousin, Betsy
