Reverend Michael Francis Foley Sr.

Tybee Island - Reverend Michael Francis Foley, Sr., 83, died Saturday, June 7, after a long illness. The Ithaca, N.Y. native lived most of his life in Savannah and was a communicant of St. Michaels Catholic Church on Tybee Island. He became a permanent Deacon in 1980 and served many years for the Catholic Diocese of Savannah. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and was a prisoner of the Japanese during World War II. He was a medical technologist and retired from Candler Hospital as Chief Lab Technician after 30 years of service. His daughter, Patricia A. Holden, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucille T. Foley of Tybee Island; daughters, Terry T. Atkinson of Savannah, Donna M. Foley of Tybee Island, Lisa L. Foley of Savannah, and Shannon E. Foley of Pooler; sons, Michael Francis Foley, Jr. and Nicholas J. Foley, both of Savannah and Christopher J. Foley of Pooler; sister, Kay Murphy of Tybee Island; brother, James B. Foley of Mineral Wells, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Rosary Service: 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
