AS A MEMBER OF STAFF AT THE BACKUS CHILDRENS OUT-PATIENT,I GO TO THE PEDS ICU UNIT EVERY MONDAY.THERE WAS NEVER A TIME THAT PATRICKS FAMILY WAS NOT THERE,HOLDING HIS HAND OR GENTLY RUBBING HIS ARM.THEY ALWAYS SMILED AND SPOKE EVEN DURING PATRICKS BAD TIMES,EVEN WITH THE PAIN SHOWING IN THEIR EYES.I DIDN'T KNOW PATRICK EXCEPT AT THE HOSPITAL,BUT I KNEW HE WAS LOVED,AND HE MUST HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL PERSON,JUST SEEING HIS FAMILY'S LOVE.I KNOW HE IS AT LAST FREE OF ILLNESS,AND HAS A SMILE ON HIS FACE.

We have no words that could convey our sympathy for the loss that you have experienced, so let us use someone elses words: "Let not your heart be troubled . . . In my Father's house are many mansions, I go to prepare a place for you . . . so that where I am there you may be also." You knew Ptrick was going to his new house when he left the hospital, but I guess you just didn't realize it was going to be a mansion.
Patrick was such blessing to us and to everyone he was around. He had a huge smile and heart filled with lots of love. I know he will be missed but he will never be forgotten.

My heart aches for your loss. I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Patrick but would see him at the office occasionally. His smile was contagious and his disposition sweet. I know there are no words I can say to comfort your broken heart but I want you to know that I am here if you need anything. I can listen and know your pain if nothing else. You will be in my prayers daily. Take comfort in knowing that Patrick is with our Lord and will never suffer again.

Patrick and your family has been in our prayer since we first heard of Patrick's condition. I hope you take some comfort in knowing that Patrick is now with our Lord and free of pain and suffering. Stan, I still consider you to be my best friend from high school and always look forward to our lunches when we are back in Georgia. I never knew Patrick, but Debbie was in some of my classes in high school. Boy, that's been quite a while back. If Patrick was as nice as Debbie, then he had to be a nice person.
