I had lost contact with Richard since 1972 when we hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. I grew up with Richard from Myers Jr. High to Savannah High and a few years after college. He was always my friend. We were part of a group that stayed friends through High School. Richard was a true character and enjoyed life to the max. He was always fun to be with and was driven at any endeavor he took on. My sympathies to Jimmy, Ursula, and Frank and all his friends.
