Ronald Floyd Obituary

Ronald Ronnie Leon Floyd - SAVANNAH - Ronald Ronnie Leon Floyd, 79, of Savannah, GA passed away October 1, 2014 from complications due to a 2007 car accident. Ronnie was raised in Richmond Hill, GA and graduated from Brewton-Parker College. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon H. and Hallie M. Floyd and his brother, Daniel Danny H. Floyd. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Toni W. Floyd; four daughters, Rhonda and Koorosh Dehbozorgi, Carolyn and Gary Bolton, Wendy and David Neill, and Kelly and Charlie Heino; one stepson, Richard Ricky and Angel Dudley; and one sister, Linda F. Becton. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ronnie was a local entrepreneur having been a partner in founding and operating Shop'n Go convenience stores, the first self-service gas stations in Chatham County. He was a charter member of the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church when church members would weekly set up the folding chairs in the bay of the fire station for services. He was the proud owner and founder of Ronnie's Restaurant in which he remained active in various capacities until his death. He was an ardent fan of deer and fox hunting with his dogs, the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the UGA football team. He also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. His enormous personality and sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family would like to thank the Skidaway Island First Responders, ICU doctors and nurses at Memorial University Medical Center, and especially his faithful friend and Doctor Robert W. Beard, MD. We also appreciate the support of Charlton Visiting Nurses Service, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Savannah, Inc. Visitation will be Friday October 3, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday October 4th, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family requests that remembrances be made to Abilities Unlimited, Inc. (P. O. Rhonda and Caroline: my deepest sympathies and prayers go out for you. I remember spending more time at your house than mine in our high school years! I will miss that sweet smile and those dimples! I love you both and think of you often. Love, Sherry Cannady Quinney

I'm so sorry for the families loss. Ronnie was an amazing boss, beautiful person and second father figure when I worked for him. Sure Pee-Wee, Pam and I may have given him a hard time now and then but we did it out of love. You'll be missed Ronnie.

Sincere sympathies to Toni and the other members of the Floyd family. Ronnie was salt of the earth, a friend to many, and a fellow who never forgot the humble roots from which he came. The restaurant that he and Toni managed for years was a most excellent gathering spot. Ronnie garnered the community respect that too many other entrepreneurs never have the good sense or ability to find. Long may Ronnie live in our thoughts and memories!
