He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and proceeded to work as a senior investment analyst at the Trust Company of Georgia. Roby joined the community of Monastery of the Holy Ghost in Conyers, GA in 1964 and remained there until 1969. He married the former Sharon Mershon Brown of Savannah in 1969. He began a teaching career at Spelman College in Atlanta. He was beloved by all who encountered his sweet personality and quick wit, as well as by the hundreds of children he taught. Survivors: wife, Sharon; children, Colman ONeal Egan of Atlanta and Sharon Robider Egan and Catherine Mershon Egan of Duluth; brother, Michael J. Egan, Jr. of Atlanta; sister, Joan Egan Houlihan of Savannah; nine nieces and nephews. Memorial services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Reception Hall. Graveside services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Sharon United Methodist Church, Sharon, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity. Wages & Sons, Inc.
