Time waits on no one! This is year 9 and I still miss you like it was yesterday! For some reason I am struggling with you being gone. I´ve been somewhat teary eyed this week. But I am still being the big girl that I promised I would be. My Senior Pastorship ends this year, and you would be so proud to know that your nephew Derrick will now be the lead Pastor and Pastor Battle the Executive Pastor. Two men that you birth in Ministry. But, that´s enough. I just want you to know that I miss you so so much, not a day goes by that you don´t come to my mind. I will forever love you!!!
Much love Always,
Your lil Sis.
Jackie

Well, it's December 27, 2022, the day we had your homegoing celebration. I can't believe it's 8 years, it seem like only yesterday. Sometimes I still cry Big Brother, like now! I remember our Christmas Day was so filled with love, and you gave every last one of us gifts, good gifts it was always a joyous time when you were around. You always gave so much of yourself. You are so missed around the dinner table. We would laugh and have so much fun every time the family got together, it would always be at your house, and we knew it was going to be a big meal with plenty of take home plate (LOL). But, Christmas is not quite the same anymore. We try, and we are working on it every year. I love you so much and I think of you everyday. I will always ask myself "what would Bishop do" when it comes to making decisions. I respect your judgement and wisdom. Thanks for teaching me well. Rest well Big Bro!!!
Love,
Lil Sis Jackie (Bishop Gilbert-Grant)

Bishop, my Spiritual Father and the closest person to a real father I know. You took me in as one of your “Sons”,you make me your Adjutant and your driver.I was happy in those capacities because it allowed me time to sit, listen , watch and observe you . You were always an inspiration to me and I can honestly say that I never walked away regretting having been in your presence. You always taught us if we ca take it , we can make it . You believed most definitely in the scripture; what I say to one , I say to all. You loved us all in your own unique and distinguishing way.I cannot say enough how much I love and appreciate you . For me, when you went to Alabama with me when my mom died ; sealed the deal for me as far as you were concerned.I know you did it for plenty of others but for me; you did that and for that reason you will forever hold a special place in my heart . I love you Bishop!!!

I thank God for all that you imparted in me. Your wisdom and knowledge was second to none. I thank God for your prayers, your words of wisdom but most of all your corrections and love. You always said if you can take it you can make it. The knowledge and spiritual insight you gave to me I can go anywhere and speak with boldness. The woman of God that I am today is because of you. I miss your guidance and straight forwardness. This world has lost a diamond but your legacy will live on. I am a seal of your Apostleship. Gone but never forgotten. With all my heart I love and miss you dearly. You were son, brother, uncle, pops, friend, teacher, pastor, Bishop to many but to me you were Daddy!!!
Love always your baby girl

Will be missed greatly. Dr. Gilbert taught my sister & I music when he was on W. 37th. As children we attended many of his awesome services with our mother, the late Mary Diane Frazier -Lamb. May the comfort of God carry the family & all those whose lives have been impacted by his love, & guidance.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
