David Drabek Obituary

David Drabek

August 24, 1994 - August 4, 2025

David Michael Drabek, age 30, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2025. Born on August 24, 1994, in Spooner, Wisconsin, David was the beloved son of Scott Edward Drabek and Charlene Ann Van Etten.

David was a proud graduate of Hayward High School, where he was a dedicated three-sport athlete, known for his determination and team spirit. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in international studies from the University of Minnesota Duluth, motivated by a sincere heart to serve-not just his country, but people everywhere.

That same heart led him to serve his nation with deep pride and honor in the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. Being a Marine was more than a duty to David-it was a calling and a profound source of pride. He carried the values of the Corps with him in all areas of his life: courage, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to others.

David loved life in the Northwoods and found joy and peace in the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or golfing with friends, he embraced each moment with gratitude. He had a kind, generous spirit, a quick wit, the best hugs, and a smile that could brighten any room. David had a natural ability to lift people up, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone lucky enough to know him.

Through life's challenges and triumphs, David always carried the quiet confidence that God was with him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Charlene Van Etten and step-father, Chuck Van Etten of Stone Lake, WI; his siblings, Amanda (Guy) Hudson of Hayward, WI, Abigail (Sam) Yoder of Hayward, WI, Chuck (Abigail Duquette) Van Etten of Norwood, NY, and Kayla (Shane) Wildman of Grant, AL; his niece Nae, and nephews Noah, Boone, and Waylon. He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Drabek.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Element Church, 10246 N Greenwood Lane in Hayward. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will be held privately.

Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.bratley-nelsonchapels.com.
