Charles Reed Obituary

CHARLES "CHUCK" R. REED 63, passed away March 19, 2003 in San Bernardino, CA. He had suffered from health problems over the last years of his life. He was survived by his wife Mayre Reed of Palestine, TX; daughters, Tammi Reed & Husband Jim Bernhardt of San Ramon, CA, Lorri Lane of Kennewick, WA and Kerri Reed of San Bernardino, CA; grandchildren, Matthew Reed of San Bernardino, CA, Rebecca Reed of Spokane, WA; brother, Ron Reed & wi fe June of Mount Vernon, MO; uncle, Donald Owens & wife Adeline of Olathe, KS. Born in 1940 in Carthage, Missouri, he grew up in Missouri and Kansas, with his father, Rev. Steward Reed, a minister, his mother Neva Mae, brother Ron and sister Janet. He was a devoted family man throughout his life, and researched the Reed genealogy. Following an extensive education, Chuck worked for 30 years in the health care field. He was an administrator, regional director and Vice President of Beverly Enterprises. He wa s a consultant to the Task Force Committee on Aging in Washington DC from 1969-1971. His work took him all over the country but his happiest years were in Hawaii with his wife Mayre. His favorite places were London, Ireland and Las Vegas. Chuck was a great storyteller, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving father and grandfather, and a good friend. He was an animal lover, and devoted to his cats. Chuck will be missed very much by everyone who loved him. Visitation Tues. 3/25/03, 11am-1pm wi th funeral service following at 1pm, both at Mt. View Chapel. Interment will be private.
