Dr. Gary Schwartz was born in Chicago, IL on June 15,1932. The family moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1942 to join relatives. After graduating from UCLA and UCI, he lived in Redlands, CA for 39 yrs. Gary is survived by his son, Dr. Steven (Debi) and granddaughters Rachel, Elise and Amanda; his daughter Dr. llene (Steven Polsalski); Kerri Keenan; Kortney Johnson. Also surviving him are his wife, Linda Ballard Schwartz, of 39 yrs, his sisters, Judy Glantz (Jack) and their daughter Stacey, and sons Michael, Rick and Daniel their wives and children; Karen Martin, her daughters Michelle and Jamie and their families.
Dr. Schwartz served his residency at S.B. County Hospital, then began Family Practice in S.B. During this time, he had privileges at St. Bernardine's Hospital and S.B. Community Hospital. He was an active member of S.B. Medical Society, American Academy of Family Practice, CA Academy of Family Practice, numerous boards and organizations locally. He served as a physician at CA State College Health Center at its beginning under Dr. Sam Plout. He was professionally active until his retirement in June, 1999 after practicing for 34 years. Gary lived his religion, and contributed to many groups, both time and donations. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice or one of his favorites: Humane Society, Diabetes Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Group, or any no-kill animal shelter. The world was a better place while he was here. Dr. Schwartz is missed by all.
