When I heard about George's passing my heart broke. That day I posted a tribute to my facebook page of a dear man who I spent time with years ago. I worked at San Bernardino Community Hospital's ER for several years and you couldn't help but fall in love with this big burly soft hearted yet tough when he needed to be man. I knew Alice as well. After I left the ER I would run into George every now and again, usually when he was on duty for PD. He always greeted me with a big hug and no matter how much time between meetings it was as if it were yesterday that we'd last seen each other. It had been a couple of years since I last saw him but thought of him often. He was my guardian in that often times crazy ER, especially the full moon nights and he kept the crazies at bay. He knew when I got off work and was always waiting to escort me out to my car. We spent many dinner breaks in the cafeteria where he shared stories from his bad boy biker days to becoming an officer to the beautiful love story with the woman who had his heart. I will never, ever forget this man nor will I forget the time that he came through ER because of kidney stones. Despite his pain he got a good laugh from my belly aching laugh when he stepped out of that restroom with a hospital gown that barely covered anything, donning his tattoos. I kept checking to make sure that I didn't give him a peds gown. Amazing man you are George Finkle, you are in a good place waiting for everyone else!! Prayers of peace to Alice and the entire family.
