Grace Joan Jeys Revel

1925 - 2022

Grace Joan Jeys was born to Jonas Oty Jeys and Grace Virginia Oswald Jeys on January 10, 1925. For several months the new baby did not have a name. Later when Joan went to get her teaching credential all that grandma Jeys had was this piece of paper that said "baby girl Jeys". The court house in Lincoln, Nebraska had burned down at some point in time and they had no record of Joan's birth. Grandma confirmed her birth date so Joan could obtain her teaching credential in the San Bernardino City Schools. For many years she taught at Highland Pacific, Cole School and Roosevelt School. She ended her teaching career at Loma Linda Elementary where she taught and was principal. In her retirement she was very active and had many interests. Joan was the Chaplain of DAV Auxiliary while her husband, Ric Revel, was Commander of the local DAV chapter. They also enjoyed camping in their motor home with friends. She started the Loma Linda Strummers ukulele group and at the age of 85 learned to play the violin. Her life was like a many-faceted diamond! After the passing of her husband Ric, Joan tried to stay in her own home but with declining mobility she was challenged. She spent her last few months in a Board and Care home in Loma Linda. She had an incident that took her to the Kaiser facility in Ontario where she passed away, Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Joan was loved as a wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother - a sister, aunt, friend, mentor, teacher and loved even by those who barely knew her! Joan is survived by 3 living children: Janice Wilber, husband Charlie; Jim Harlow, wife Karen; Richard Revel, wife Sharon; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grand child; and many nieces and nephews. She had one child, Valarie Rene Revel, who preceded her in death, November 24, 1970. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Azure Hills Church, 22633 Barton Road, Grand Terrace, CA on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2 pm. She will be laid to rest in a private interment at Riverside National Cemetery next to her beloved Ric.
