Peggy Stoll Obituary
01/05/1932 - 09/18/2021 Peggy Ann Stoll, 89, of Silver Lakes, CA, passed away September 18, 2021. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ted Bigelow, Larry Cotterman, and Robert Stoll, and numerous relatives in and around Danville, Illinois where she was born and raised. She is survived by her children, Desma Sharp (Ron), Faye White (Steve), Jeff Vander Vliet (Diane), grandchildren, Mindi Heise (Carl), Mitch White (Carrie), Erik Sharp (Lynsey), Kirsten White, Kelsey Ranyard (Louis), Luke Vander Vliet, great-grandchildren, Savannah, Hannah, Bethany, Grady, Audrey, Matteo, and Hallie Jean. Peggy worked in retail, clerical, and modeling before moving to California where as a self-taught medical transcriber she was employed at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, CA for forty years. She formed many lifelong friends there. Peggy grew up and sang in the Methodist Church in Danville. She became a Catholic when she married Bob and was active for many years until she was no longer able to drive out of Silver Lakes. During her last years she regularly attended Grace Bible Church in Silver Lakes. When she wasn't caring for her children (baby-sitting, cooking, cleaning, laundry and more) she loved gardening. She amazed us with her vast knowledge. She knew so many plants and trees by their common and botanical names and her yard and atrium reflected her green thumb. She loved sewing for her children, playing Bunco, traveling, and cooking. Making chocolate covered peanut butter balls and other holiday desserts with G.G. is an indelible memory. We will lovingly remember our mother, our MIL, our G.G., as a brave woman, who for many years as a single parent, showed tremendous courage in making the selfless decision to give her son a chance for a better life, and then drove across the country to find a better life for her girls. Working multiple jobs and long hours, she always put her children first. For this, we will always be thankful. She will be laid to rest with her husband Robert Stoll at the Riverside National Cemetery during a private family ceremony.
