ROBERT A. DEEM

ROBERT A. DEEM A long time resident of San Bernardino, passed away W ednesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the age of 91. He died peacefully with his wife, daughters, and hospice nurse at his side. Robert joined the army in 1945 and worked for the CIC as an intelligence agent. During his tour in Germany, he met his wife Heidi and they married in Regensburg in 1947. They then lived in Sandpoint, ID, until 1965, when they moved with their children to San Bernardino. He worked at Norton Air Force Base as a printer and retired in 1980. He also had his own printing business actively working until his mid 80's. His biggest hobby was collecting stamps, which he started when he was a young child. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, whom he lost when he was only 9 months old to the 1918 flu epidemic, and his father in 1972. He is survived by his loving wife, Heidi of 62 years; sons, Bobby Deem of Spokane, WA, Norbert Deem of Hayden, ID; daughters, Kay Babcock of Tonganoxie, KS, Lisa Quiel of San Bernardino, CA, and Eva Mayser of Anchorage, AK; also his Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren , and Great-Great Grandchildren. During the last two years he was a resident of Emeritus at Loma Linda assisted living, where he shared a beautiful apartment with Heidi and made many friends. Many thanks to the staff at Emeritus for their loving and wonderful care and also to the Vitas hospice staff for their compassion and care during his final days. Memorial Services will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 10816 Mountain View Ave., Loma Linda, on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10:00 A.M.
