Daniel Banonis Obituary

Daniel J. Banonis, 67, of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Shenandoah, Dec. 19, 1948, he was a son of the late Walter and Eleanor Kuchinsky Banonis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Kaplafka.

He was the husband of Christine Schlack Banonis, to whom he was married for 45 years.

Daniel was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, formerly of St. George Church, where he also served as a Eucharistic minister.

He graduated from Shenandoah J.W. Cooper High School, Class of 1966, and attended Penn State University. He worked as a computer program analyst at Leader Data Processing, West Hazleton, and Wal-Mart Distribution, Highridge.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jason, husband of Mary, Lower Saucon Township; a sister, Dorothy Leach, Ringtown; two grandchildren, Andrew and Zachary; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Divine Mercy Church, 216 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian as celebrant. Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah. The family prefers donations to Hackerman-Patz House, Attn: Kelly Gold, manager of Guest Services, 1260 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA 18105, or Joe's Fund c/o Hillside SPCA, P.O.
