David John Fritzinger, 68, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street in Pottsville.
Born Oct. 9, 1951, in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Andrew H. and Lenore Mae (Dennis) Fritzinger.
Dave served in the Navy from March 1969 till March 1973. He was employed as an EMT, working for many ambulance companies throughout his career which included Pottsville, Leesport, Orwigsburg, Frackville, Schuylkill Medical Transport, Shenandoah, Tremont and last retired from the Lehighton Ambulance.
Dave was a member of St. Clair-Wade United Methodist Church, Saint Clair, the former Greenwood Hill Fire Company in Pottsville, American Hose Fire Company in Pottsville, where he was vice president of the board, EMS Council in Allentown, where he was on the board. Dave loved golfing. He was an avid book reader and loved history.
Dave is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah E. (Heffner) Fritzinger, Pottsville; a nephew, Barry K. Heffner and his wife, Cherryrose, Portsmouth, Va.; a great-nephew, Matthew K. Heffner, Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Andrea Zubey and her husband, Leonard, Middletown, and Cameo Semasek and her husband, Mark, Tamaqua; a brother-in-law, George R. Heffner and his wife, Linda, Cressona; a sister-in-law, Kay Ann Korn, Pottsville; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at St. Clair-Wade United Methodist Church, Saint Clair, with Pastor Jack Murray officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Clair-Wade United Methodist Church, 23 N. Front St., Saint Clair, PA 17970, or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Dave, We are all heart broken who had the pleasure to know you and work with you!
