David Heffner Obituary

David R. Heffner, 83, formerly of Pottsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at LVHN-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, July 8, 1938, he was a son of the late Howard H. and Hazel (Jones) Heffner.

David served in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a laborer in shipping yards before retiring from JDM, where he worked in the mailroom.

He was preceded in death by former wife, Margaret Carl; stepson, Michael Zelinsky.

Surviving are three stepdaughters, Rosann Markish, of Frackville, Susan Haney, of Saint Clair, and Theresa Smerlick, of Port Carbon; stepson, Luke Zelinsky, of Pottsville; two sister, Judith Towne and Beverly Shollenberger; grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street, Saint Clair. Friends may call from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
