Eugene Voydik Obituary
Born June 6, 1940, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and Ruth Shappell Voydik.
He worked in retail textile manufacturing for more than 50 years, working for the former Bashore Knitting Mills, Schuylkill Haven, and the former Rohrer's Knitting Mill, Orwigsburg, which was a branch of the former American Argo. More recently, he worked for Reed's and Meck's knitting mills, Schuylkill Haven, and was employed part-time at U.S.S. Achey Inc., Schuylkill Haven.
He was an active member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven, currently serving as elder, a member of Consistory and as the church's representative to Schuylkill Haven Council of Churches. He formerly served as Consistory president and as Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother, Clement Voydik; and a sister, Joyce Ebert.
Surviving are three sons, Eugene J. Voydik, Schuylkill Haven, Mark A. Voydik, North Manheim Township, and David B. Voydik, Beaverton, Ore.; a daughter, Janene D. Ditzler, Schuylkill Haven; grandsons, Adam, David, Joshua, Justin and Daniel Voydik; granddaughters, Amber and Megan Ditzler; a brother, Francis D. Voydik, North Manheim Township; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Church of Christ, Route 61 South, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Ms. Shawn Van Dyke officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to American Heart Association, West Lawn Professional Plaza, Building A Suite 10, 25 Stevens Avenue, West Lawn, PA 19609. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family in care of www.gsesfuneralhomes.com.
