Harold R. "Fat" Wehry Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 13, 2024, surrounded by those who loved him most.
Born in his family home on Sept. 4, 1939, in Klingerstown a son of the late Harold R. "Huddle" Wehry Sr. and late Carol E. (Warner) Wehry. Harold is also preceded in death by his loving wife. Janet D. (Arinsberg) Wehry, three brothers and a sister: Walter Fritz Wehry, John Wehry, Lloyd Wehry, and Betty Oxenrider.
Harold was a proud farmer with a passion for hard work, hunting, fishing, and loving his wife Janet for 33 beautiful years until her passing in September 1995. As a farmer, Harold farmed fresh produce, cattle, hogs, corn, and grain. At one point in time, he was the largest producer of tomatoes in the state of Pennsylvania. He held a full resume of jobs before buying his first farm. Harold worked in for the timber industry felling trees, road construction running heavy equipment, and was a partner-owner of a coal mine, where he worked evenings after farming during the day. Harold thoroughly enjoyed watching pigeon shoots, a good game of euchre, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
During retirement, Harold enjoyed watching football and baseball games from the comfort of his home. He loved a good visit from family and friends. He never hurried anyone from his company and was always quick to share some words of wisdom. One of his favorite sayings during his final months was, Getting old ain't a sin, but it is mighty unhandy. His infectious laugh will live in the memories of many.
He is survived by three brothers: Harry Wehry, Randy and wife, Janey Wehry, Tyrone and wife, Peggy Wehry; as well as his five children: Carol Frazz and husband, Randy Maurer, Connie Wehry, Cynthia and husband, Darin Schwartz, Harold Wehry III and wife, Fawn, and Ralph Beno and wife, Heather Wehry; also 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
