James Leddy Obituary

James B. Leddy, 85, of 734 Port Carbon-Saint Clair Highway, Mill Creek Manor, Pottsville, died Saturday at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville.

Born in Mill Creek Manor, April 18, 1924, he was a son of the late James and Susan McCullion Leddy.

He worked at Argo Mills, Schuylkill Haven, before retiring.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair, Diener's Hill Hose Company, Schuylkill County Notre Dame Club and Saint Clair Old Timer's Baseball Association. Jim coached for many years in the Saint Clair Little League and the Saint Clair Biddy Basketball League.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Walko Leddy, on May 13, 1990; three brothers, Joseph Leddy, John Leddy and Clarence "Sam" Leddy; and four sisters, Rita Gaffney, Mary Mihlov, Sue Jones and Anna Stauffer.

Surviving are a son, Robert Leddy and his wife, Florence, Mill Creek Manor; two daughters, Rita Cullather, Schuylkill Haven, and Patricia Miske and her husband, Raymond, Port Carbon; four grandsons, Robert James Leddy, Raymond Miske, Randall Miske and Shaun Cullather; three granddaughters, Eileen Kenton, Janelle Cullather and Lindsey Cullather; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Clare of Assisi Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair, with the Rev. William Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund or Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110. Interment with military honors will be held in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Norwegian Township. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Not only was he a great guy, but he was a great uncle. I have fond memories of eating spaghetti on Sunday and Uncle Jimmy watching his baseball games.
