Karen L. Schwalm, 67, of Valley View, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Friday, July 16, 1954, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Eugene G. Fesig and Shirley P. (Matter) Fesig.
She was a 1972 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and a graduate of Central Penn Business School, Summerdale.
Karen was a medical records/coder for several hospitals and retired from Shamokin Area Community Hospital after 29 years of employment.
She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
Karen enjoyed camping, attending concerts, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel C. Schwalm, to whom she was married for 45 years. She is also survived by two sons, Matthew D. Schwalm and his wife, Ashley, of Dillsburg, and Adam M. Schwalm and his wife, Tabitha, of Valley View; two grandsons, Jacob Schwalm and Jeremiah Schwalm, both of Valley View; four granddaughters, Kelly Schwalm, of Valley View, Naomi Schwalm, Josie Schwalm and Eliana Schwalm, all of Dillsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Suzanne Elliott officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
