Martin "Marty" Hanrahan, 65, of Mahanoy City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 10, 2023, surrounded by family, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.
Born July 17, 1957, in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late John and Florence (Molner) Hanrahan.
Marty graduated from Mahanoy Area High School, Class of 1976, and North Vo-Tech, Frackville, where he studied masonry.
He was employed for many years at Fiberite Corp., Delano. He and his wife, Lynn, owned and operated Hanrahan's Market, Mahanoy City, for 18 years. He then retired from Blaschak Coal Corp., Mahanoy City.
He was a former parishioner of St. Canicus Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
Marty was a lifetime member of the Humane Fire Company No. 1, Mahanoy City.
He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Marty enjoyed trips to the casino, cooking and beach trips with his family. His greatest love was spending time with his five grandchildren.
Marty will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his quick wit and his unselfish willingness to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Cavenas, and a nephew, Raymond Cavenas.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Lynn (Kondisko) Hanrahan; a daughter, Kellie, wife of Matthew Giannelli, Mahanoy City; a daughter, Katie Macaluso, Mahanoy City; five grandchildren, Ryan, Gianna, Conner and Aubrielle Giannelli and Sophia Gromalski; a brother, John Hanrahan (Pam), Huntingtown, Md.; a brother, Timothy Hanrahan (Patti), Buck Mountain, Barnesville; a brother, Shawn Hanrahan (Tara), Mahanoy City; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Canicus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, or St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen, Pottsville. James P. Haughney Funeral Home, Mahanoy City, has charge of arrangements.

He made the day and work easier.All the people in the community that were hepled by Marty and Lynn will never be forgotten.The Irish people are a great blessing to America, And Marty is as great as anyone could hope to be.
