Margaret "Peggy" Ward Brill, 98, a resident of Well Spring Retirement Community, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Nov. 29, 2021.

Peggy was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Mahanoy City, to Thomas and Ethel Shaeffer Ward.

She was a 1941 graduate of Mahanoy Twp. High School and came to Washington, D.C. in 1942 as an employee of the War Department and was one of the first employees of the War Department, Office of Adjutant General, to move into the newly-built Pentagon.

In 1943, she married Arthur Brill, of Barnesville, also a 1941 graduate of Mahanoy Twp. High School. They were married for 54 years before his death in 1997. At the time of his death, they were living their retirement years in Clearwater, Fla.

In 2006, Peggy relocated to Greensboro to be close to family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved Art; a grandson, David Mason; four sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her three children, Sandy Bassett (Al), of Greensboro, Susan Mason (Mark), of Columbia, Md., and Scott Brill (Claire), of Worcester, Mass. Also grandchildren, Mary Jean Taylor, Matthew Bassett, Zachary Mason, Kathryn Brill-McGee, Anna and Leah Brill. She also leaves great-grandchildren, Ethan and Grayson Taylor, Owen and Desmond Bassett and Jude McGee; nieces and nephews.

Interment will be private in Sylvan Abbey Mausoleum, Clearwater, Fla. Contributions may be made in her memory to AuthoraCare Collective Hospice, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405. Online condolences may be made at Sechrestdavisphillipsavenue.com.
