Gary Kimm Obituary

CONYERS, Ga. - Gary Kimm, Sr., age 77, of Conyers, GA, died October 17, 2016. He was a 1958 graduate of Benton Community Senior High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Augusta College. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and retired from Morgan Thermal Ceramics. A man of integrity, he had a great love for his church family and was always willing to help when he could. Gary enjoyed playing with his dog, golfing, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and travelling with them to the mountains and the beach. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylen and Phyllis Kimm; and brother, Richard Kimm. Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Lynda Kimm; daughters, Judy Dooley and her husband, Dennis, and Rhonda Pruitt of N. Augusta, SC, Melody Day and her husband, Wesley, of Covington; sons, Gary T. "Sonny" Kimm, Jr. and his wife, Joanna, of N. Augusta, SC and Joseph M. "Matt" Sellars and his wife, Michelle, of Covington; sister, Patsy Lyons and her husband, Marlon, of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, Gerald "Jerry" Kimm and his wife, Zelda, of Chesapeake, VA; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, October 20, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conyers, GA with Rev. Scott Richardson and Rev. Stacy Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 - 4 and 6 -8 Wednesday at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in his memory to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1233 Pleasant Hill Road, Conyers, GA 30012.
