Michael D. Cimino

Michael D. Cimino, 58, of 505 Columbia Ave., Aristes, died unexpectedly Wednesday at home.

Born in Shamokin, March 9, 1956, he was a son of Mary T. Janolek Cimino, Mount Carmel, and the late Samuel F. Cimino Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a maintenance supervisor at various industries.

On April 1, 1980, in Ashland, he married the former Brenda L. Brobst, who survives.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Northumberland County Vo-Tech School and Mount Carmel Area High School.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Aristes, where he served as a liturgist.

He was a life member of Clover Hose Company, Mount Carmel, and Aristes Fire Company, where he served as the past fire chief. He was a past EMT and volunteer with the American Hose Ambulance Association.

Michael was a founding member of and did volunteer work with the 911 Memorial Committee at the Clover Hose Company.

He was a train enthusiast, enjoyed decorating for Christmas and cake decorating.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Brenda, and his mother, Mary, are a son, Nicholas Mekosh, Linglestown; two daughters, Brenda Wilner and her husband, Jack, Mahanoy City, and Melissa Mekosh, Mount Carmel; six brothers, Samuel Cimino, Mount Carmel, Joseph Cimino, Middletown, Thomas Cimino, Philip "Bing" Cimino, Jeffrey "Mat" Cimino, and Daniel "Mooney" Cimino, all of Mount Carmel; three grandsons, John "Jack" Wilner II, Edward Wilner and Seth Mekosh; a great-grandson, Ares Wilner; sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; nieces and nephews; cousins; and his beloved dog, Kolby.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Bonnie Yeager, officiating. Interment will be in Aristes Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
