Paul J. Banaszewski, 74, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at UPMC-Harrisburg.
Born April 26, 1949, in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Anne Marie (Yancius) and Anthony E. Banaszewski.
A graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School, Paul voluntarily enlisted and served honorably in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He continued serving his country, working for 35 years at the New Cumberland Army Depot.
Paul was a lifelong hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was extremely generous and kind of heart, accompanying the Harrisburg First Assembly of God Church on missionary trips to countries, including Russia, Panama, Nepal and Turkey. His Faith was a large part of his life. He was always willing to help anybody and everybody.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Banaszewski.
Surviving are three sisters, Antoinette Banaszewski, of Shenandoah, Ann Banaszewski, of Shenandoah, and Mary Fore and her husband, Ron, of Shenandoah; two brothers, Joseph Banaszewski and his wife, Kelly, of Collegeville, and Anthony Banaszewski and his wife, Patti, of Kensington, Md.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, from Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah. Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be sent at www.nicehartfuneralhome.com.
