Richard B. Prentiss, 89, of New Ringgold, formerly of Union Beach, N.J., passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, near Orwigsburg.
He was the husband of Carolyn Prentiss. They were married on May 9, 1953, and celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Prior to retiring, he was a self-employed mechanic.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was a son of the late Richard and Anna Prentiss.
Richard was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart medal. He was an avid CB radio enthusiast.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Kullberg; two sisters, Lillian Prentiss and Betty Ann Galarza; a brother, Ronald.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Sharon, wife of Doug Huebsch, of Elmwood Park, N.J., Denise, wife of Michael Nicastro, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., and Paula Prentiss, of New Ringgold; nine grandchildren, William, Thomas, Richard, Carolyn, Casey Lynn, Tracy, David, Frank and Kristen; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Service and interment with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
