Ronald Ferrari Obituary

Ronald J. Ferrari Sr., 85, of Girardville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, with his family by his side.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Theodore and Marie Coyle Ferrari.

He worked as a punch press adjuster for Zapata Industries, Frackville, until his retirement in 1988.

Ron was an Army veteran, having served from 1961 to 1963.

He was a lifetime member of the Frackville Elks BPOE 1533, the Girard Hose Company and the American Legion.

He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Bradley; his brothers, Ted Ferrari Jr., Tom Ferrari and Joe Ferrari; and his grandson, Nicholas Pelak.

Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary A. (Gownley) Ferrari, Girardville; his sons, Ron Jr. and his wife, Kathy Ferrari, Pipersville, and Joseph F. and his wife, Sandy Ferrari, Ashland; his daughters, Camille and her husband, Christopher Katsoris, Frackville, Margaret and her husband, Paul Pelak, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Lavinia and her husband, Mark Yanes, Womelsdorf; his brothers, Robert J. Ferrari, Girardville, and Louis Sr. and his wife, Geraldine Ferrari, Ashland; his grandchildren, Michael, Faith, Anthony, Evan, Taylor, Narissa, Natasha, John, Kathryn and Rachael; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland, with the Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at the church. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ronald's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
