Rose Kennedy Obituary

Rose Kennedy, 91, formerly of Minersville, passed away on Friday afternoon at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Frackville.

Born May 21, 1932, in Minersville, Rose was a daughter of the late Paul and Constantina (née Yannaccone) DiSarro.

She was a 1950 graduate of Minersville High School.

Rose worked as a caterer at the former Pottsville Bus Terminal and enjoyed the privilege of serving a meal to then-Senator John F. Kennedy during his 1960 presidential campaign stop in Pottsville. She was also employed at the Washington Hotel, Minersville, for 26 years. Rose later worked as a private duty home health care worker before retiring.

Rose was a member of the former St. Vincent de Paul Church, Minersville, and a current member of St. Michael the Archangel R.C. Church, Minersville.

Rose was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society; a member and former treasurer of the St. Vincent B.V.M. Sodality; a member of St. Casimir's Rosary Confraternity, Saint Clair; a member and former president of the Minersville Little League Mothers' Club; and a member of the Young-at-Heart Club at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Rose was a longtime volunteer at fundraisers for St. Vincent's and St. Michael's and also volunteered at the St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, Pottsville. She was particularly fond of the time she spent rolling pierogies at St. Casimir's and volunteering with the Chinese auction.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, Thomas P. Kennedy, in 2010, and her son, Paul G. Kennedy, in 2021. She was also predeceased by brothers Anthony, Herman and John DiSarro, and sister, Marie Campion.

Rose is survived by her son, Edward; her daughter, Geralyn, wife of Joseph Griffin, with whom she resided for the last several years; four grandsons, Paul T. Kennedy, Tyler P. Kennedy, Patrick J. Griffin and Matthew J. Griffin; and a great-granddaughter, Kollins Kennedy. Also surviving are three siblings, Lucy Salviola, Hatboro, Ann DiSarro, Minersville, and Joseph DiSarro, Reading; nieces, nephews and dear friends.
