Teresa Groody Obituary
Born in Mahanoy City, Feb. 12, 1928, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Ziaus Forster.
She graduated from Mahanoy City High School and the Ashland State General Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
Teresa was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ashland.
She was the former owner of Groody Oil & Catering, Ashland, and devoted her life to her children and family. She loved poetry, painting, crocheting and also played the organ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Groody, in 2004, and a daughter, Patricia, in 1982.
Surviving are children, Rosemary, wife of Charles Nevius, Kulpmont, Joseph Groody, husband of Ann Marie, and John Groody, husband of Cathy, both of Ashland, James Groody, husband of Alette, Superior, Colo., Christine Groody, Marie Groody, and Michael Groody, husband of Lori, all of Ashland, and William Groody, husband of Angela, Fountain Springs; two brothers, George Forster, husband of Pat, Schuylkill Haven, and Paul Forster, husband of Jean, Lebanon; a cousin, Virginia Heisler, Tamaqua; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, 1100 Walnut St., Ashland, with the Rev. John W. Bambrick as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
