Snipes
FLORENCE – Bobbie Lou Cannon Snipes, 91, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021, after an illness.
She was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret "Maggie" Martin Cannon. She worked as a secretary with Dilmar Oil Company and State Farm Insurance.
Mrs. Snipes was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Christian Family Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She also served as church secretary at St. Paul.
Bobbie Lou and her husband, Bobby, enjoyed square dancing with their group "The Promenadors." She also was an avid bridge player.
She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Robert "Bobby" Snipes, Sr.; and a brother, William R. "Ray" Cannon.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret E. Snipes of Myrtle Beach, Mellie Snipes (Charles Whit) Grimsley of Florence, and Bonnie Snipes (Alex) Kamaris of Columbia; a son, Benjamin Snipes, Jr., of Webber, VA; a sister, Jayne Burch Cannon of Florence; two brothers, R. H. "Bubba" (Bleeker) Cannon, Jr., of Pawleys Island and Wayne Martin (Anne) Cannon of Chapin; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Cannon of Conway; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will gather for a private graveside service at Florence National Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
The family also extends sincere thanks to the staff at The Manor for their compassion during her residency.
