Cecil Carraway, 88, of Effingham passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 3 PM at Effingham Church of God with the Reverend David Wilks officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Effingham Church of God and other times at the home of his daughter, Cindy Carraway Fisher.

Cecil was born in Florence County and was the son of the late James Fred and Annie Pearl Coward Carraway. He was a longtime member of Effingham Church of God, where he served in many different capacities. Cecil was owner and operator of Flo South Restaurant Equipment in Effingham for many years and served his Country in the United States Army in the Korean War, fighting on the front line. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be missed dearly.

Surviving are his daughters, Cindy (Steve) Fisher of Florence, and Nancy Schaffer of Varnville; his son, Michael (Sylvia) Carraway of Effingham; his son-in-law, Angus Priester of Hampton; his daughter-in-law, Bertie Mae Carraway of Coward; numerous loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Harold (Madeline) Carraway of Effingham; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce F. Carraway; his son, Earl Carraway; his daughter, Wanda Carraway Priester; his son-in-law, HD Schaffer; and his brothers, Willard Carraway and J.W. Carraway.
