Charles Rogers Obituary

Charles Louis

Rogers

Charles "Charlie" Louis Rogers, 88, of Columbia, died Sunday, March 26, 2023. Born August 23, 1934, in Marion County, SC, he was the son of the late Robert and Emma Meggs Rogers. He attended Marion County schools and later Clemson University. He was employed for over 28 years with Dixie Electronics prior to starting his own electronic systems contracting business, Delta Systems, Inc. Mr. Rogers worked diligently building his company and ultimately retired following 25 years of ownership. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when given the opportunity to work in his yard. Mr. Rogers was always very curious of how things were constructed and loved to repair broken items. He was always setting goals for himself and one of his greatest accomplishments was receiving his private pilots license at the age of 65.

Charlie was loved by all his family whom he thoroughly loved in return. He was a known as a "sweet, sweet dad" to his children, regardless of how they might age, and as a source of wide-ranging knowledge to all he encountered. Charlie cherished his family and he had a truly rare, special bond with Mibbie for 67 years. For all that knew him, he was an extraordinary man that will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred "Mibbie" Norton Rogers; children, Chuck Rogers (Jen) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Susan Hagedorn (Don) of Columbia, and Becky Rogers of Pawleys Island, SC. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Candace Green, Nicole Aston (Matt), Marvin Rogers, Moreen Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Lauren Manning, Luke Manning, Elizabeth Manning, and Sarah Manning; great-grandchildren, Brady Green and Jacksyn Green; as well as his brother, Carlisle Rogers of Marion, SC.

The funeral service for Mr. Rogers will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 31, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m.

The burial will be held following the funeral at 3 p.m., on Friday, March 31, at Spring Branch Cemetery, 5501 Temperance Hill Rd, Marion, SC 29571.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Spring Branch Cemetery Fund, c/o David Stackhouse, 213 Crepe Myrtle Court, Marion, SC 29571, Garden City Chapel and Retreat, 316 Dogwood Drive North, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576, or PAALS, 221 North Grampion Hills, Columbia, SC 29223.
