Moss
Douglas Lamar Moss, 72, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at MUSC Hospital in Florence, after a short battle with cancer. Doug was born October 31, 1950, to the late Robert T. and Jessie Tart Moss of Florence. He was educated at Southside High School and played in a band with his high school friends. Doug served in the U.S. Army from 1970 until 1973 and was stationed in Hawaii. Doug married his wife, Maude, in August of 1985. He worked at the family business, Moss Welding and Iron Works, for 52 years until his retirement. He attended the Church at Sandhurst and had a love for telling people about the Lord. He was a very loving, caring and compassionate man, and was a wonderful husband to his wife, father to his children and PaPa to his grandchildren. Doug is survived by his wife, Maude Young Skinner Moss; daughters, Paige (Kurt) Huber and Melissa (Steve) Silvester; two sons, Worth Skinner and Dean Moss; brothers, Robert T. (Jane) Moss and William Terrell (Debbie) Moss; grandchildren, William (Katherine) Huber, Benjamin Huber, Sara Silvester, Cole Silvester and Grayson Silvester; a special aunt, Lib Tart; and his best friend, his fur baby "Opel." A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC.
