John Curtis Obituary

John Livingston Curtis

March 20, 1938 - October 26, 2025

Dillon - John Livingston Curtis, 87, left us to meet his Lord on October 26, 2025, at Pruitt Health-Dillon. He will be sorely missed.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery dire-cted by Cooper Funeral Home. Family will receive visitors thirty minutes before the service and following the ceremony.

John was born on March 20, 1938, in Lumberton, NC to his parents Livingston Ira and Christine Bethea Curtis. He attended Dillon schools and went to Presbyterian Junior College. Later, John farmed with his father for several years.

John lived his entire life in Dillon and was a well-recognized face in town having worked for Mohawk Carpet Industries for twenty-eight years. After retirement, he enjoyed serving as the smiling, helpful greeter for diners at B & C Steak & Restaurant. He loved his family. He was a devoted son to his mother, taking care of her for many years after his Father's death in 1972.

John is survived by brothers, William E. Curtis (Terry) of Wilmington, NC and Dr. Richard F. Curtis (Rebekah) of Granite Falls, NC. John was always very supportive of their families and remembered their birthdays and other special events.

John was a lifelong member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, was a member of The Methodist Men, and loved singing in the choir. He supported and served as the secretary of the Dillon Chapter of Woodmen of the World, being twice elected Woodman of the Year.

The family is grateful to the staff at Pruitt Health in Dillon for the excellent care they have provided for John for the past seven years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Main Street United Methodist Church, Choir Fund, 401 East Main Street, Dillon, SC 29536.
