John W. McKnight, 65, of Florence, SC passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at McLeod Hospital following an illness.

John was born in Sumter, SC a son of the late Marion McKnight and Elizabeth Dorease Burrows. He served in the United States Army for a total of four years, two of which he served in Panama. John founded John McKnight HVAC, Inc. in 1992, and worked as a self-employed HVAC and Electrical Contractor.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers, Wardy McKnight, Dan McKnight, and Roger McKnight and sister, Doris Ann McKnight Dennis.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn McKnight of Florence, SC; father-in-law Bobby Carroll Easterling of Hartsville, SC; Daughters, Christi (Loren) McKnight Long and Stacey Tupone of Florence, SC; Brothers, Henry (Carolyn) McKnight of Summerville, SC, Jimmy McKnight of Fayetteville, NC, and Glenn (Johnnie Mae) McKnight of Pamplico, SC; sisters, Elizabeth Yvonne Stone of Coward, SC and Marilyn Tilton of Scranton, SC; grandchildren, William Parker, Krystapher Parker, Ren Long, and Mac Long; and great-grandchildren, Raelyn Parker, Jett Parker, and Enver Parker.

John loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John loved his family unconditionally. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt deer and fish at the surrounding lakes with his loving wife. He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping others.

The family would like to thank the staff of McLeod CCU for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends 11:00 â€" 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Stoudemire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Florence National Cemetery.
