Mary Frances

Brown

Mary Frances Brown, 50, of Florence, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was born in Florence, a daughter of the late William Kenneth "Bill" and Mary Sloan Brown. She graduated from West Florence High School and spent her whole life in Florence. She joyfully worked as a hair stylist for more than 30 years, with hundreds of customers, many of whom were like family to her. She was happiest with her friends and family, especially when she could enjoy time outdoors with them, maybe most especially fishing at the river. She is loved and missed by her surviving family, including her son, Jacob Alan Brown; two brothers, Ken (Phyllis) Brown and Wayne (Marie) Brown; two sisters, Rose (Kem) Hawkins and Laura (Kent) Simmons; eight nieces and nephews; three great-nephews; her canine companion, Buddy; and a large number of friends and clients that will miss her very much. She is predeceased by her parents and a niece. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Cain Calcutt Funeral Home can be made to assist the family.

I am truly heartbroken. Mary was a friend and had been cutting my hair for over 25 years. She also gave both of my children their first haircuts. She will be missed.

My heart is broken over the loss of Mary. Mary has been my friend and hairdresser ever since she finished at Betty Stevens school. She was a dear friend and kept my hair looking tops. She and I would talk constantly while see worked to make me look great. She has been over to my house for several of my late mother's family birthday parties and also styled her hair. Mary was like a sister to me in a lot of ways. I last spoke with her Friday afternoon. She had already left the shop. I ask her if I could change my hair appointment from May 12th to this week because I had forgot, in all the excitement, that Sat. May 8th was the date my grandson was graduation from the Citadel and I wanted to look good. She was so sweet; she told me yes don't you worry, when I get back to the shop tomorrow morning, I will check my book and find a spot for you. I'll be back in touch with you then. Sat. afternoon, I hadn't heard from her so I sent her a text and another text that night. My worse thought had come true when I was called and told about my dear friend. I am praying for all of us. I loved our precious Mary.
