Funeral service for Mr. Willie Lee McGill will be conducted 11 AM, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Strive Hard Educational, Recreational and Enrichment Center (SHEREC), 312 S. Ravenel Street, Florence, SC. Interment will follow at Florence National Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.
Mr. McGill was born February 22, 1933 son of the late Hattie McGill. He was called to eternal rest on Friday, February 18, 2022 after a brief illness.
He was educated in Florence County Public Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He attended Denmark Area Trade School receiving a Certificate in Radio and Television Repair. He was the owner of McGill's TV & Repair Service. He was also employed with Koppers Treating Plant for 30+ years, prior to his retirement.
He was a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church of Florence and sung on the Men's Choir.
He was preceded in death by parents; his wife, Cathalee Robinson McGill; son, Larry James McGill; foster parents, Ralph and Martha Lee Ham.
Those left to cherish his memories five additional children; Donald R. (Esther) McGill of Florence, Linda T. Dunham of Florence, Willie A. McGill of Asheville, NC, Gena McGill of Anderson, SC, Crystal E. (UL) McGill of Myrtle Beach, SC.; siblings, Annie B. Hicks and Sammie Lee (Barbara) McGill both of Florence, Lester Ham, Lezelle Ham, Milton Ham, Ernestine Ham, and Ophelia Ham; brother-in-law, Frank Robinson of the home; five grandchildren, Stuart, Bethany, Keith, Erneisha and Ashley; one great grandchild, Ethan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM, Monday, February 21, 2022 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 S. Johns St., Florence.
