David Pull Obituary

David C. Pull, DDS

Sauk Rapids - David passed away on December 13, 2020 at St. Cloud Hospital.

David was born on January 6, 1937 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Edward and Gladys (Kise) Pull. He graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1954 and received both his bachelor's degree and his DDS from the University of Minnesota.

He met Sigri Emerson at Glacier National Park where they both worked summers. They married on June 22, 1957 and moved from Minneapolis to St. Cloud in 1960 where David practiced dentistry for over 50 years, retiring in 2017. He had a great sense of humor and he loved being a dentist named Dr. Pull.

He is survived by his children Lora, Amy and John; grandchildren Pat, Beth and Mike; great-grandchildren Mack and Wyatt; and his beloved dog Stella. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Edward and sisters Kathleen Henry and Audrey Wacker; wife of 61 years, Sigri; their sons, David and Michael.

In 1969, David moved his family to a farm in Sauk Rapids. He was passionate about his "hobby" and enjoyed raising animals, tinkering with machinery, and planting and harvesting crops. As much as he treasured living on the farm, he also cherished taking trips with his family.

David was a social butterfly. He began most days with his morning coffee buddies, joining other pals for more coffee and an occasional lunch throughout the day. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and the summer reunions. He traveled to Guatemala with medical relief teams providing much-needed dental care. The friendships that developed in these groups meant the world to David.

There is not a church big enough to fit all of David's friends, especially with the capacity limitations and transmission risks of COVID-19. So instead of traditional services, the family asked two spiritual communities close to David's heart to say masses for him: St. John's Abbey and the Poor Clare's Monastery. He was buried next to Sigri and Michael at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sauk Rapids.

The family intends to have a memorial celebration at his farm, late summer 2021. For information, and to share pictures and memories, please email: [email protected]

A wonderful person to know. My parents (Bob and Lorraine) always spoke of him and his wife with love. He made going to see him at his dentistry something to look forward to, not to dread. He would really listen to you.

Dr. Pull was one in a million. I went to him from age 7 until I moved to Nevada at 26. My mom and dad went to him much of their adult lives. When I would be home visiting my mom, I would often go to a dental appointment with her and we would reminisce about so many things. I didn't know about his charity work, but it is not surprising. He had a big heart and was a wonderful man and practitioner. My sympathy to you, His loss deeply felt.
