Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran in St. Cloud for Dorothy M. Rettey, age 86, of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Janine Olson will officiate and burial will be in the North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Dorothy was born September 23, 1928 to Lloyd and Judith (Strand) Thompson in Rolette, ND. On September 20, 1953 she married Ernest Rettey in Rolette, ND. Dorothy was a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead majoring in biology and home economics. She worked as a teacher and as a homemaker raising her six children. Dorothy loved deeply and gave freely. She was loving, caring and family oriented. Dorothy will be especially remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit, dedication to her family and her joy of being a grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Scott (Kathleen) of Spencer, IA, Kurt of St. Cloud, Mark (Cathey) of Slayton, David (Linda) of Tracy, Diane (Brian) Mayer of Brooklyn Park, Renee (Corey) Bertram of St. Cloud; siblings, Rachel Barksdale of Rolette, ND, Harold Thompson of Rolette, ND, Donald (Joyce) Thompson of Sheridan, WY; 14 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest; parents; and sister, Lois Garrity.
