Geraldine Foster Obituary

Geraldine "Geri" Foster

Duluth - Geraldine "Geri" Foster, age 79, passed away peacefully March 26, 2021, with her family beside her at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. She was born to the late Henry and Emma (Kampa) Halfman, on October 27, 1941, in Duelm, Minnesota.

She married the late Robert Foster Jr. in 1961, and they lived together in Ronneby until their divorce in 1989. She was the beloved mother of Sharon (Thomas) Kotz, Rose (Scott) Williams, Doug (Cherri), Kevin (Judi), Christine (Terrance) Lovejoy; proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Marge and Mary Jane, and her twin brother Gerald. She joins her parents and sisters, Arlene and Jean, in heaven.

Geri was a wonderful mother, homemaker and cook. Ma Foster was famous for her homemade soups, deli salads and baked goods. Her cinnamon rolls beat any popular bakery by far. She loved to cook for her loved ones, and adopted many people in her life. She will be remembered for her generous, loving spirit sprinkled with a bit of sass and mischief. Even as dementia impacted her, she still loved a good laugh and spending time with her family. Her smile would light up the room. Most of all she loved her children and instilled in them strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Mom would not want you to be sad about her passing. She would want you to celebrate her arrival into heaven where she is free from the hell of lewy body dementia. Have a toast of your favorite beverage for her and remember her when you hear Old Time Rock and Roll.

The family would like to thank the amazing, compassionate staff at Solvay Hospice House for the outstanding care and love they poured on mom during her final days. We also appreciate the love and care so many of her caregivers in Duluth gave her over the past 3 years.

Please join us to celebrate her life at the Cremation Society of Duluth (4100 Grand Avenue) on Monday, May 17. Visitation starting at 2 pm, and service at 3 pm with lunch to follow. Masks are required. Memorials to the Solvay Hospice House of Duluth preferred.
