Ivan L. Karnes, Sr., age 78, St. Cloud MN, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud MN.
Ivan was born January 2, 1933 in Grey Eagle, MN to John A. and Erma G. (Fuller) Karnes. He married Jean K. Anderson on February 23, 1957 in Burtrum, MN. Ivan was employed by Rubald's Beverage and then for Bernick's for 23 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Karnes of St. Cloud, MN; sons, Ivan Karnes, Jr. of St. Paul, MN; Daniel (Laureen) Karnes of St. Cloud MN; Brian Karnes of St. Cloud MN; Bradley Karnes of St. Cloud MN; brothers and sisters, Lawrence (Marie) Karnes of St. Paul, MN; James (Darlene) Karnes of St. Joseph, MN; Hoyt (Joyce) Karnes of Swanville, MN; Harriet Walbrun of Grey Eagle, MN; Ella Mae (Al) Bartz of Waite Park, MN; two grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Karnes; and one great granddaughter, Lexi Karnes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Calvin and Clayton Karnes and one sister, Jeanette Krey.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the St. Cloud Hospital and St. Benedict's Senior Community for the loving care they provided for Ivan.

I am originally from Grey Eagle, and I have known some of Ivan's siblings; I am also a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. My prayers and sympathies to all of Ivan's family.
