James A. Burroughs, 77

Princeton, MN

May 24, 1936 ~ March 4, 2014

James A. Burroughs, age 77, of Princeton, MN, passed away on March 4, 2014 at the V.A. Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Jim was born on May 24, 1936 in Princeton, MN to James and Esther (Magney) Burroughs. He graduated from Princeton High School. He served in the United States Air Force in England from 1954-1958. Following his years of service, Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. For 42 years, Jim was an exemplary insurance agent for the MSI Company, focused on personal connections with all of his customers.

A loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend to many. Some of Jim's greatest memories were spending time with his family and friends at the cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. He was an avid outdoorsman. He cherished the time he spent with his children and friends hunting, fishing, gardening, and blueberry picking.

He took pride in being involved with many community organizations, including the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, the American Legion and the Zuhrah Shrine - where he was active with the Chanters and the Zuhrah Rod & Gun Club.

Jim is survived by his wife Deb of Princeton; his five children Nicky (Craig) Doss of Tempe, AZ, Jim (Jennie) Burroughs of Milaca, MN, Megan (fiancé Jeff King) Burroughs of Austin, MN, Paul Burroughs of Blaine, MN, and Katie (Dan) Johnson of Stewartville, MN; his grandchildren Teran, Lincoln, Kennedy, Jackson, Allie, and Marcus; his siblings, Mary Jean (Duane) Olson, Robert (Maxine) Burroughs, and Steve (Marilyn) Burroughs; nieces, nephews, as well as many friends and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
