James "Jimmy" A. Hanson, age 70, of Hancock, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, Minnesota, with the Rev. Seth Novak officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Gail Maureen (Johnsen) Hanson of Hancock; children: Keith (Carmen) Hanson of St. Peter, Kurt (Molly) Hanson of Benson, Kimberly Hanson of Sauk Rapids, and Karri (Corey) Leen of Sartell; grandchildren: Josh, Emily, Sierra, Brady, Hannah, Halle, Brock, Brogan, Tyler, Hunter, and Mason; siblings: Sandy (Sonny) Tjaden of Fergus Falls, Shirley (Jerry) Budke of Green Bay, WI, Joyce (Jerry) Sholberg of Escondido, CA, Gerald (Ruby) Hanson of Fergus Falls, Rodney (Ruth) Hanson of Benbrook, TX, Steven (Sharon) Hanson of Ottertail, Daniel (Som) Hanson of Moreno Valley, CA, and Linda Hanson of Fergus Falls; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn and Baldwin Hanson.

Aunt Gail, Keith, Kurt, Kim & Karri,
We are very sorry to hear about Uncle Jimmy. We have so many fond memories of him - Jimmy & Morris doing the veil dance at our wedding, the wonderful stories that Uncle Jimmy would tell about growing up on the farm, the pig roasts at your farm and the way he could always make you laugh. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of your families now and always.

Too soon, too soon!! We just never know what is store for us and the time we have to do it, doesn't make this any easier tho. I do thank you and Jim for the time together in all those years at the "elevator" watching your kids start to grow up. They were good times!! Peace and Prayers to you and the kids.

Dear, Dear Gail and the K-kids, Darrell and I are so sorry and shocked at the loss of Jimmy. He always made the whole room rock with his stories and his big grin, some of our best memories of the 80's and 90's are built around the Hanson's. We'll see you later this week. Gail, Keith, Kurt, Kim & Kerri. You have my and Som's deepest sympathy. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. I fondly recall Jimmys regaling tales of when Som and I first visited you and how he recounted the stories of the milk cows and eating hot peppers with her. Know that we will always cherish those memories and we will miss him deeply. I'm truly sorry that we couldn't be there with you but know that we all love you.
