John "Cliff" Sehlin

John "Cliff" Sehlin went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2015. He passed away at St. Cloud VA Community Living Center at the age of 102.

Cliff was born to Berntina and Peter Sehlin in Eastside Township on October 21, 1912. He married Betty Peterson in 1951 at the Opstead Baptist Church parsonage. They were longtime residents of the Isle area. Cliff farmed and served as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. Cliff proudly served his country in World War II. He attended Isle and Opstead Baptist Churches.

Cliff enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, but his true calling seemed to be getting to know and help people. He recently commented, "I love people." His smile and positive outlook touched many lives. Cliff often expressed gratitude for the good care he and Betty received throughout their long illnesses.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings (Arthur, Carl, Reuben, Edna, Esther, Eleanor, Donald, Howard), and his wife, Betty.

Survivors include Kathy (Mike) Johnson of Minneapolis; Carol (Dan) Johnson of Kenai, AK; four grandchildren, Dain (Sonia) Johnson, Amy (Shawn) Kay, David (Anna) Johnson, and Rachel Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Kaj, Parker, and Thor; much-loved nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Opstead Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 5 until 7 P.M. at Mille Lacs Lake Funeral Home in Isle as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors are being provided by the Isle Honor Guard. Arrangements by Mille Lacs Lake Funeral Home
