Kent WOLKOWSKI Obituary

Kent David Wolkowski
December 26, 1989 - September 8, 2014
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful, charismatic son, Kent David Wolkowski, five short months after the death of his brother, Adam. Kent's infectious charm, his zest for life, and his compassion for others, impacted everyone he came in contact with. He will be remembered for his dimpled cheeks, his dynamic personality, his drive to succeed, his brilliantly creative mind, but most of all, his ability to make others laugh. Kent's DREAM to be an actor, and be a part of the film industry, began at age 4. Kent never deviated from this path. He attended Mac Neil Elementary and Winston Knoll Collegiate. He was a member of "Do It With Class Musical Theatre Company " for 12 years where incredible instructors fostered his love for acting, singing and dancing. He began getting roles in T.V. commercials at age 12. At age 15 he was cast in a supporting lead role in the "Tommy Douglas Movie." He also had guest roles in several of the "Corner Gas" episodes. Kent possessed an abundance of energy and existed on very little sleep. During his high school years he juggled school, dance, singing, musical theatre classes, as well as appearing in over 40 Musical Theatre Productions, both at Winston Knoll Collegiate and Local Theatres. He loved being cast in comical roles, as he fed off the laughter of his audiences. Kent received many awards for his singing and acting talents. At age 19 Kent moved to Toronto to train in classical acting at George Brown Theatre School. Kent was represented by the Gary Goddard Agency in Toronto. They described him as "an incredibly gifted actor, producer, writer and director". He was known in the movie industry as Kent Nolan. Kent noted that some of his career highlights included working with Academy Award nominated filmmakers, Terry Gilliam, John N. Smith, Jennifer Lynch, as well as recently starring in the feature movie "Stage Fright" by Sundance award winner, Jerome Sable. For the past couple of years Kent had been collaborating with many other talented writers, actors, producers and directors on a number of Creative projects. Kent always said" I love all aspects of film and theater. Whether I'm acting, or directing, it just seems to me that it's the perfect fit for my life." At the time of his passing Kent had just filmed and directed his first feature film, "Mature Young Adults" and was in the process of editing it. His brother Adam Wolkowski, and his grandfathers, John Wolkowski, Gordon Cholerton, and Gordon Meggitt, predeceased Kent. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Dale and Susan Wolkowski, his brother Jared, his grandmothers Norma Meggitt and Kay Wolkowski. He is also survived by his cousins, aunts, and uncles, John and Rose Ann Rietmeier (Jessica, Stephanie) Gord and Diane Chadwick (Melanie, Brendan, Nicole, and Preston MacKenzie, Tricia, Kyla and Devin Chadwick) Isaac and Fiona Dib (Daniela, Liam and Isabel), Kevin Cholerton, Clive and Margery Cholerton (Evan), Kevin and Cheryl Gabel (Leigha, Kayla) We would like to acknowledge that though we are his biological family, Kent had many "Families" in the Theatre and Film Industry Worlds. All of these people played such a huge role in fostering his potential, and encouraging him to continue to pursue his dream. We thank you for that! In lieu of flowers or food, family and friends so wishing, may make a donation to a Trust fund through "Class Act Studios". This fund is being established in memory of Kent, to benefit young children who require some financial assistance and share Kent's passion for the Arts. Please email [email protected] for details on how to make a donation. Family and friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Kent's Life", which will take place at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21, at Sheldon Collegiate Auditorium, 2601 Coronation Street.

Celine has reminded me today that it is Kent's birthday and our pain becomes acute yet again. I sit and weep with the joy of having known him, even briefly. What an exceptional, loving man with so many accomplishments. Whenever I see him in Corner Gas I jump up with pride. I remember his intense focus on stage in So You Wanna Buy a Bar? I still appreciate his affable acceptance of everyone over a casual dinner. He is a compelling, charming, inspiring presence and once again I send my shared grief, love and support to all his loved ones. Rhyll Peel

I wanted to offer my sincerest condolences to your family.
I knew Kent at theatre school. He was always kind to me and a good friend. My fondest memories of Kent are of working on a scene together for a number of weeks at the beginning of our first year. He made me laugh when I was tired. I will always remember his kind eyes.
I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many.

It has taken me a long time to sign here. Words just aren't right now, i just have many feeling, hope and love, which i am sending to Kent's family and friends. I am very grateful that we were able to come as a family to Regina with our son Jordan (Kent's very good friend and roommate). I met Kent before Jordan did. He was Jordan's roommate when they first started George Brown College in Toronto. Kent and I looked for condos together. Jordan was away at camp. I remember how easy it was to get to know Kent and what a lovely person he was. We were strangers to each other at that time, yet i found myself enjoying him company right away. We had many laughs while looking for places for him and Jordan to live while going to school. Jordan and Kent lived together for 2 or 3 years at the start, then and were apart for a little while then moved back in together. Jordan always admired Kent's energy and enthusiasm for his work and just life in general. He was always so positive and so nice to be around, he was an amazing person. i hope in some way we will all be together again. I will always have my very fond memories of Kent. I was lucky to know you.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Kent's passing. No parent should ever have to go through the heartbreak of losing a child and you've lose both Adam and Kent so close together. I was fortunate to have the joy of babysitting Kent from a little baby onward for a few years. He was so sweet and those dimples! I see from many posts that Kent grew up to be an exceptional young man. You can be very proud. We have held you in our prayers since we've heard the news and will continue to do so.

You have been in my thoughts since last week. I had the pleasure of knowing your son for the 2 years he was at George Brown Theatre School. I remember his smile, as wide as the prairies; his infectious zest for life, and his positive. boundless energy. I had the pleasure of directing Kent in our Munsch show. He brought so much to the table, in terms of acting ability, writing ability, and music ability. He was a key driving force in that project. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

We have been holding you close in our thoughts. My son Mitchell went to school with Kent, and most recently was his roommate. Mitchell loved Kent and is heartbroken on a level he has never experienced before. My daughter Grace lived with Mitchell, Jordan, and Kent last fall. She really enjoyed getting to know Kent, and thought the world of him. On my last visit to Toronto (just a month ago) I had the pleasure of spending more time with him. I was so impressed by his good manners, and how present, and enthusiastic he was. You should be so proud. I was always so thankful for the wonderful friends Mitchell had around him. He will be greatly missed. All our love to your family from Mitchell, Grace and Maureen Court.
